“If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” – 1 John 4:20
This scripture is absolutely powerful and lay bare the difference between a hypocrite and a true child of God. The question is clinically spot-on and laid out with a military precision – How can you claim to love God whom you have not seen and yet hate your classmates, your teachers, your lecturers, your parents and indeed, your roommates!
A story was told about a so called Christian sister who will wakes up daily to sing, “Good morning Jesus…” but will not consider it befitting and necessary to greet her room mates and will not even answer them when they greet her! This is hypocrisy at its peak.
We can only claim to love God by loving the people around us. Not the carnal love as it’s being advertised these days, but with such a love that is coming right from the heart of God. See Matthew 25:31-46.
Loving others will help put your mind in a state of peace and will be helpful to your assimilation and concentration. A biter heart is a restless heart. Go ahead and sow God’s love for this is a prerequisite for excellent success.
